I don't know why I'm watching this. I've been shaving with razors for like 15 years.

There is a great resurgence in shaving with and collecting vintage double edge razors. There are a myriad of vintage razors available online, as well as modern-made versions. You can choose from dozens of brands of blades. There's a calming satisfaction in whipping up a dense and slick shaving lather with brush and bowl, just like grandpa did; and there are hundreds of shaving soaps & creams made by artisan and commercial makers in the US alone.
One of my favorite razors was made in 1917. Paired with a modern stainless steel blade, it will give a closer shave than any expensive cartridge - and at a fraction of the cost. Of course, double edge razor shaving ain't for kids, there are simple techniques used over 100 years ago that apply today. Our forebears didn't have Xbox or Smart Phones, but the shave of 100 years ago still cannot be beaten today, for those who have what it takes to master the skill.

Straight Razors - the ultimate DIY. With practice you can easily master shaving with a straight razor. Believe it or not, a dull razor will nick & cut you, while a sharp razor, in practiced hands will not. You need only master the art of honing and stropping for an excellent shave of the past; many folks prefer to send their straights to a professional to hone every 6 months or so. Me? Grandpa taught me how to hone his straight razors when I was 14 years old. I have his razors and 125 year-old honing stones today.

Vintage shaving is an adventure for those who have the patience and steady hand to master the skill.

My suggestion: Use the cheapest disposable razer you can find that has at-least two blades and a pivot head. Typically they can be had for about $0.50 each. Then use them 2-3 times at most, and toss them after that. The edge does NOT get dull from cutting hair. (steel vs hair duh not), it gets dull from being wet and exposed to air, therefore corroding (the super fine edge) between shaves. If you want to really pinch pennies, get a nice one, and then store it between uses in baby oil, eliminating contact with air and water, but that's too much trouble for me.

Learn to shave with a classic safety razor. WET SHAVING is god-tier. My setup:
Merkur 34c Heavy Duty safety razor (short handle for best control)
Feather razor blades (made in Japan where they take pride in sharp blades)
Geo F. Trumper shave cream
Vulfix brush (anything with BADGER hair)

Shave immediately after/in the shower when your facial hair is softest. Use an alcohol-free aftershave balm with MOISTURIZER.

Use Dorco Pace 4 disposable razor. It's cheaper, easier to shave than this famous razor brands because there is an adequate space between the blades so hair won't get stuck ok it. Unlike these famous brands, they intentionally make it that way so that hair will get stuck easily and you will buy blades sooner.

That's not a straight razor, a straight razor only has 1 blade.
