Hello Abby,
You've seen the company that drank a boot (Stiefel) . In clubs or with the fire brigade, this is a very widespread tradition in Baden-Württemberg. Actually, it's a pretty bad drinking game. My first experience with it was with the voluntary fire brigade.
I would like to explain to you what this is all about.
>It starts with someone ordering and paying for the boot. He also takes the first sip from the glass boot. And hands the glass to the next person in the group. But first he has to bang his elbows on the edge of the table, then his fist, and then, with the back of his hand first, bang his fingernails on the glass. The next one takes the glass boot, bangs his fingernails on the glass, his fist and elbow on the edge of the table. So in reverse order! If you forget that, you either pay for a round of schnapps or the next boot. And so the boot goes on to everyone who drinks. Of course, the beer in the boot is becoming less and less. The boot must also be held in such a way that the tip of the boot always points to the front! If you don't do that, you pay for a round of schnapps. At some point the glass will gurgle. If you don't carefully lift the glass, you'll get a few splashes of the beer in your face. Of course, that costs one lap and I get a roar of laughter. If someone empties the boot, the one who was there before pays for the next boot.

After drinking my first Stifel I was so intoxicated that it lasted 3 days! It was a lot of rounds. Lots of liquor, some boots, way too much for me! I also had to pay for a pair of boots. I also had to pay for a few rounds of liquor. Drinking boots is only over when the location closes, or nobody can anymore.
If you take part, you should bring a well-filled wallet, be very thirsty, or at least be able to drink well. You should definitely leave it alone if you don't tolerate a lot of alcohol! You should also no longer drive a car or take part in public traffic in any way!

Greetings from Kaiseringen near Albstadt, Baden-Württemberg!

Hey Aby. This video is so entertaining. It's so much fun watching and listening to you tell us your story. This video belongs in the category, Aby explores the world. Lucky for you, that they have enough of the cake. And then you finde another shop and the german restaurant, so that you have more to explore.

I am not an expert in cooking, but here are a few traditional dishes. I am not sure, if you will finde all of them in a restaurante. I tell you the german names, because translating them into english does often make no sense.
Sauerbraten, Kassler, Falscher Hase, Schäufele, Königsberger Klopse, Spätzle, Rouladen, Kohlrouladen, Schweinshaxe, Schweizer Wurstsalat, Wiener Schnitzel, Jägerschnitzel, Schnitzel ungarischer Art, Saumagen, Bratkatoffeln mit Sülze, Flamkuchen, Gulasch, Ochsenschwanzsuppe, Hochzeitssuppe, Erpsensuppe, Tomatencremsuppe, Spargel, Spargelcremsuppe, ... .
And here some cakes and torten. Nusstorte, Schokosahnetorte, Mazipantorte, Streusselkuchen, Zuckerkuchen, Bienenstich, Gugelhupf, Sandkuchen, Schokokuchen, Citronenkuchen, Erdbeeertorte, Kirschtorte, Apfeltorte, Donauwelle, Hefestücke, Käsekuchen, Frankfurter Kranz, Sachertorte, Pfirsichtorte, Krapfen, Rumkugel, Amerikaner, Heidesand, ..., there is so match more.

My best greetings from Hannover

Ha - ha, the beer glass they had, we call here in Germany a boot (Stiefel) and we drink it out all at once! Only you have to know how to drink it, otherwise you will get wet!

You're as sweet as this wonderful piece of Black Forest cake, I'm glad you like it so much.
There are things for which you drive a little further if you have to. Bratwurst sandwich, I haven't heard of that here.
With us, a roll is simply cut open in the middle and a bratwurst placed in it, some mustard or ketchup on top and that's good, possibly served in a serviette. Good food doesn't have to be complicated. A really good dirndl, which you should actually keep for a long time, usually costs a little more. When buying a dirndl, you should therefore take your time and get good advice from someone who also has an idea, it may be a bit more expensive, but you will have the dirndl for a very long time without any major problems.

I Love Peter ♥, he's the best! The flower on his pants is called Edelweiss(direct translation would be "Noblewhite", idk the english word for the flower) it's a traditional flower often used as a symbol for courage and strength, but also used as a sing of love, because you have to climb high dangerous mountains to get the flower, a sign for a girl that the love is true when a guy brings the flower to her, this is why you will often see this flower on traditional south german clothes!

I have never seen a Bratwurstsandwich, this is something american, but have to say i like the idea, do you remember of my picture with the Bratwurst Tacco? Guess it is something similar!

No joke, these dirndls look verry good, idk if they are made in germany but i don't think so with shipping and customs a price of "only" 250$(? impossible)

I like Leberwustbread(with Valentina Salsa and Onions, one of my new faves), but it has to be a good one, there are also a lot of differences in germany some cheap ones in stores... yikes they put sugar in it f.e.(it's a crime... a disgusting crime), best Leberwurst you will get from Butcherstores in germany! So can't say if the Leberwurstbread you have eaten in the german store is good or not.

Psss... the flag is not the thuringian flag, it is the flag of my city ;) every city has an own flag. Anyway Salute!

I'd like to see a vid from the restaurant, i would spend a few bucks via paypal next month... so shouldn't be that expensive ;)

greets

A bread roll, sliced with a grilled bratwurst and mustard is common... even tho i never saw someone puts sauerkraut on it. But i live in the black forest region, i suppose some people will add it...

I've seen the video again and watched for the brand(MarJo) of the dirndls, seems they are from germany(Passau, Bavaria), hmmm interesting... anyway they even have an Internet-Site(sadly german language only, just google for the brand if you are interested, can't put the link).

Bratwurst Sandwich I've never heard of here.
Well, at a fair for example, the bratwurst is put in a bun (Broetchen), but without sauerkraut (that's not common in most parts of Germany), and it's your choice if you want ketchup or mustard on it. This is usually available for self-service.

Btw. did you know the bow on the Dirndl that it had a meaning on which side you wear it?
Dirndl bow tied on the right: The woman is married or taken, Dirndl bow tied on the left: The lady is single, Dirndl bow tied at the back: Widow, waitress or child.🤯
Would be cool if you try their food on the German restaurant 🤤🤩

Leberwurst (liver sausage) has various forms and (regional) variants. As I stopped eating red meat I can only enjoy Leberwurst that's purely made from chicken/turkey. But finding qualitative produce of that is difficult.

Great that You had such a good time with the - more or less - German cuisine. But I must stress out that it always does taste quite different in the country where a recipe comes from. I remember eating Spaghetti carbonara (which I knew from home) in Italy. The taste was completely different - and much better (this is supposed to be a hidden invitation to Europe...go figure ;) ).

The boot drinking goes like this: the second to last has to pay for the boot. Sometimes there is also a schnapps in the beer.

The bratwurst sandwich is what Americans think is quintessentially German. I'm 46 years old and I've never had sauerkraut on my bratwurst here. I don't know if you eat bratwurst with sweet mustard, it's not common in northern Germany. As a to-go snack, you eat the bratwurst with a normal roll and mustard or ketchup. If you make your own bratwurst at home, that's something else. You can combine it however you want.
