Agree with the closing statements of the video! After riding bikes for around 12 years, last year I went from a 123hp Kawasaki to a 47hp BMW F650 just mainly due to financial issues, and it's blown me away how much fun riding a bike like that is. And even for someone who loves their speed. I do everything on the beamer: Commute, balls-out rides in the twisties whenever I can, 2-up touring with full luggage, occasional off-roading... And the thing just chugs along perfectly.

I guess mainly my point is, a lot of horsepower might not be the key to an enjoyable ride. So don't feel bad if you can't afford a superbike, don't feel bad if your friends all ride 'Busas, and don't think you need 100+bhp to get your adrenaline going. There's a lot of fun to be had wringing out every last bit of performance in a lower-powered bike. :) And of course, even in the 40-50hp range, there's plenty there for overtakes even at highway speeds.

I owned CBR250 for two years, so it will be an interesting comparison when I test ride CBR300 tomorrow... video will be on my channel this weekend.

I recently bought a Honda 2015 CBR300F, the "naked" version of the CBR300R for my daily commute to work . Like you said in your review, riding it is a lot of fun. The bike is nimble and has no problem passing most cars on the road. The bike is being marketed towards women, but I don't see why it would be better for either man or woman, unless they are expecting men to have too much hubris/fragile little egos to ride a 300. I am tall, heavy, and ride the bike very comfortably. It reaches highway speeds easily, and I have been riding it in wet conditions with no problem. Very happy with it.

Slow bikes are good fun for experienced riders. Agreed, and thanks for mentioning that. On the road, within the speed limit, I can have more fun on a 300 than a 600.

Nice one, Tony, great review. Been reading you in Bike for years, but your voice was different in my mind! Tell the rest of the guys there at MCN that you are doing the videos from now on.

It brings an extra 4.4hp,   not 3.   The old 250R was at 26hp, the 300R is at 30.4

I just sold my sport bike because of insurance...I miss the hell out of my little cbr500r that was so cheap to ride, fuel and insure...

ugh we need the old 250/400cc 4 cylinder bikes back. Nutty power delivery, mad sound & at speeds where you wont kill youself. Had a Kawasaki Ballius when i was living in Thailand. It was probably one of my favourite bikes. Sounded like an F1 car and revved up to 19k. Wasnt fast but it was an extremely fun ride.

Nothing wrong with the stock IRC road winners. I've done 20, 000km on the earlier model 250r (15k km's on the IRC's then swopped for BT45's) in rain, wind and shine on road and track without a slide. Suspension is set too soft however for anyone over 75kg; so stiffer front springs and adjusted rear shock gives good results.

It's a Honda so they have to Bash the heck out of it, apparently it's Mandatory. They could say maybe a few positive things than the manufacturer does [produce more small dependable engines than any other manufacturer in the world. The Company has high client satisfaction and that more Honda's are on the road and last longer than any other Bike, but apparently what's really amazing is that as a Company,  it manages to do this, while producing Motorcycles, Cars, and Small Engines of all types that apparently start out as just pure junk.

not the best tyres, fair, brake isnt tip top like a modern 600cc, seriously wtf. why do you expect a 30 hp bike have the same level of brakes as a 120hp bike? its as informative as saying its not as fast as a litre bike - totally out of place comparison. as far as i know, cbr300r has THE BEST BRAKE among the 300cc class.

I appreciate the optimism, but why wouldn't MCN's first review of this bike involve someone who had at least ridden the original 250R and or the Ninja 300?? Seems a no-brainer to at least provide that smidgen of context.

We need more bike sounds in these videos, even if it is a 300. Cut the music and pump up the exhaust notes.

I had the CBR250 and I miss it all the time. An easy riding bike like this makes the experience so much more enjoyable... Until you pull up at the stop light and the Harley rider next to you has a laugh at your expense.
