The TRAGIC Death of World Cup Skier and His Girlfriend in a 2300ft Fall

In a heartbreaking incident in June 2024, World Cup skier Jean Daniel Pession and his girlfriend, ski instructor Elisa Arlian, tragically lost their lives in a mountain climbing accident. The couple, both passionate mountaineers, fell nearly 2,300 feet from near the summit of Mount Zerbion in the Aosta Valley, Italy. Their bodies were discovered still tied together, a testament to their bond and love for the mountains.

The Italian Winter Sports Federation confirmed the devastating news, highlighting the significant loss to the skiing community. Jean Daniel Pession, a prominent figure in speed skiing, achieved notable success with a 15th place finish in the 2021 World Cup standings. Elisa Arlian, although not widely known in the public eye, was respected as a dedicated cross-country ski instructor and primary school teacher.

I knew a couple extreme skiers from Chamonix like 20 years ago named Stephan "Fan Fan" Dan and Arno Adan(sp?), does anybbody know of them? I lost my old phone book and have lost touch. We all went to Annapurna, Nepal but I didn't ski it and also climbed together Mt Blanc and all around that area of the Alps, really nice fun guys.
