Use the Tentacle Sync App to Jam Frame Accurate Timecode on your GoPro 10 or Bones

That's right, after a bit of fiddling, I'm able to get my GoPro Bones adjusted to pretty much frame accurate timecode using the QR code built into the Tentacle Sync app - ver 0.8.0(20) for Android. I believe the same functionality is in the iOS app currently.

Fingers crossed for them to change the implementation away from using TCAL. If they do, then ms adjust will work on any Labs enabled GoPro.

Have you checked for drift? I did with 2 9s and a 7 over 12 hours, with a clip every hour.

The 7 drifted about half a second, one of the 9s didn't take the timecode for some reason despite the confirmation tick on the screen and the other 9 drifted about 2 seconds over the 12 hours.

Initially the 7 was almost frame accurate and the 9 was about 10 frames out.

If the 10s are frame accurate and don't drift, it might be time for an upgrade!

I was having trouble with consistency using the tentacle, a splitter and either the media mod or the audio adapter into the GoPro.

That's why I moved over to the Sony RX0 II for in car footage, the lack of continuous AF was the only issue, but the timecode is solid.

A few frames for a drone or even under-car footage is no big deal, though when I'm trying to edit a Multicam conversation between two drivers with a constantly moving timecode, it needs to be at least only a few frames out maximum.

My Tentacle Sync is still in the post. Should be arriving this week. Looking forward to experiment with this. I have nearly all versions of the GoPro and from the 7 and up all of them support TC via QR in labs firmware.

Have you tried it on different frame rates. I used the beta software and could only get it to sync on 25fps.
