Today, I'm going to give you 9 depression symptoms and warning signs that you should know. Feeling sad and feeling a little down are emotions that we all experience occasionally. But when this sadness and this grief become long-lasting and start to affect your everyday life, it could be an indication that you have depression.

Depression is the most common mental health condition seen by primary care physicians. Yet due to the stigma, many people who are feeling symptoms of depression don't seek the help that they need. And untreated depression can lead to a multitude of problems. It can literally be life or death.

1. Sleep Disturbance
2. Change of Appetite
3. Loss of Interest
4. Irritability or Unwarranted Emotional Outbursts
5. Anxiety
6. Lack of Focus or Difficulty Concentrating
7. Substance Abuse
8. Poor Hygiene
9. Preoccupation with Being Victimized, or a Preoccupation with One's Own Mortality

These are just some of the many warning signs of depression. If you are experiencing any of these depression symptoms and warning signs or if you have a friend or loved one who's experiencing them, please, please reach out to your doctor, or call a counselor or a psychiatrist if you already have one.

I had depression for years and I feel ashamed to talk about it . People judged me even family. I made progress over the last couple of years but I feel like I still have some deep rooted issues. Hopefully therapy will work for me. Reading books help me cope with my depression.

I have. My symptoms are loss of interest, loss of memory, anxiety, want to go with mum. My friend is trying to encourage me with Jesus Love.

I have. In 2015 I had a nervous breakdown and spent 6 days in the psychiatric medicine unit. It was very helpful for me.

I think I'm depressed too, i no longer have appetite, nervousness, feeling lonely, feel like I want to cry like every day....😥😥😥

I've suffering from all of these since last January... Just lost my job last month... I've been wearing the same clothes for months... Haven't showered in quite some time... Can't focus... Memory is horrible... Health is declining. Ive always been one to keep myself up and always looked dapper but now I just don't care.

Thanks Doc. Yes I have dealt with all of these symptoms. I've suffered with depression off and on for years. But the times that i was off i practice things like meditation, yoga, and Tai Chi. I felt like a new person. But overtime those symptoms returned. I believe it was because of my environment, and certain situations that didn't play out in my favor. I still struggle to this day. I'm a Martial Artist but haven't practiced seriously in a couple of years. I really want to get back into my practice because i have a YouTube channel that I'm slowly working on that involves my love and passion for the Arts. Depression is really hard to shake off. But I'm trying my best one day at a time. Anyone reading this...trust me i understand your pain, but we'll make it through this. DR. Frita is our guide 🙏🏾❣️. Thank you for this video.

I was in therapy for my depression 15 years ago and was feeling good until now with this going on with the Covid 19 sometimes I feel anxiety thank you for this video love the way you explain God bless you

I know I'm depressed even if it's just low grade. I can't seem to concentrate on one project around the house. I start on a project and end up procrastinating. My spaces are getting cluttered to the point where I don't see it anymore, but I know where things are at. I work full-time and am a high performer at work, but after work hours, I just want to sulk. Can't sleep, but I get back up and do it over again. I look forward to picking back up on projects again on the weekends, but end up getting pulled in another direction just going on circles.

when I was 4 I lost my grandma I was small at that time but seems I growing up it put me in depression cause I love my grandma so much I was her favorite and I keeping talking about her and I miss her so thank you so much

I do understand about depression my name is Michele I lost my nineteen-year-old to cancer and I just didn't think I was going to make itand as an African-American woman we are talked to be strong but at this point at that point in time I have to see a psychiatrist and to go into counselingI do understand my family was talking to me like you're the strongest person how could what's wrong with you and they don't know that at the end of the day we need that and we can always afford it I am thankful that God bless me to be able to do itbecause if I hadn't I don't know where I would be right now but he is so awesome and I'm so grateful for everyday this day it may you have a blessed day ❤️

My symptoms are severe lack of energy, over sleeping, forgetfulness, brain fog, cant concentrate. All of the above and more in the video. Im so tired feeling this way..

Once i start eating something i used to love i loose my appetite right away...not just that i get irritated so fast and i hurt myself by digging my nails into my hand...and i sleep for longer than i used too and also sleep less it's different everyday. I've lost interest in drawing. And when I'm mad i cry after because of the way i scream. I feel anxious going out. I can't focus in one thing for long time like i used too. I don't end up showering myself for at least 5 days. I am also being extremely paranoid about my parents dying or my family and also myself.

I didn't know I was depressed when I was at highschool. I thought it was just me being dumb and no one wants me. I thought it was just me being temporarily sad.. I don't like sharing what I felt cuz I know they will never understand me. I tried sharing but they just never took me seriously..
