The Big picture - POCSO & Exclusive Courts

The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Centre to set up a dedicated special court in every district which has over 100 cases under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) pending. The apex court gave this mandate with a deadline of 60 days, as it was concerned about the slow pace at which child sexual abuse cases are being dealt with. A bench of Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Aniruddha Bose made these statements when they learnt that 1.5 lakh POCSO cases were pending in 670 designated courts. Quoting available data, the court pointed out that only 3% victims in POCSO cases received compensation in 2015, and the number increased to only 4% and 5% in 2016 and 2017 respectively. Per this data, a judge on an average has to go decide on 224 cases. To address this, the apex court asked for the Centre to set up special courts, which should be funded by the Centre as well. * Training of judges should be done parallel manner so as not to delay the whole process
* Uneven awareness-poles apart metros-remote areas

Conclusion
We should start with Awareness which will go a long way through communication, fearful laws, check on internet & child pornography sites,
counselling & rehabilitation of abused children in a holistic manner if we really wish to display “Zero Tolerance” towards such crimes

Why not retired judges of high courts and SC should deal with these cases in new courts.It would be easy for them to deal with due to various aspects of laws and sensitivity of cases being known to them.Also it would not hamper the pendency of cases in our courts....

people should be aware we are making strignent law but this is a fact that almost 99% of the people in rural areas and 60% of urban people do not have heard even about POCSO. Need to be more populistic like SWACHHTA mission . If people are involved by educating them empowering them then only we can create the real deterance among the perpetrator

Schools should have internal complaint committee(permanent) through which children can access the judicial system. Teachers will a very important role in this. they need to be sensitized in this issues and they can be used as the missing link.

It is not matter of making laws more strigent and setting up of exclusive courts as corrective method of system rather addressing real problem in society.
We had sexual menace cases through out the history but a the then generations we're able to handle it adressing hormonal issue. But it is our generation which is failing to address reality
