With Rick and Morty my guess is that Rick just straight says they're voice actor got fired and starts going on a drunk tangent while Morty doesn't understand ricks 4th wall brake

Reminds me of that one time in Eddsworld where the character Edd was also hit with a voice changing ray to explain why his voice actor change. Though unfortunately the reason why Edd was replaced was because the voice actor and creator of the series passed away from cancer :(
