Hezbollah began firing into Israel in support of Hamas as Israel vowed to wipe out the militant group in the wake of the October 7th terror attacks. Communities in northern Israel, including the Arab majority city of Nazareth, have faced a barrage of missiles, rockets and drones. DW's Emily Gordine reports on how many citizens feel authorities are not doing enough to protect them.

My community is located a few hundred yards from Arab villages and towns. In my kibbutz only 5 % of the homes have safety shelters. There are neighborhood shelters open during wartime. Since the early 2000's building code requires new and renovated residences have safety shelters, paid for by the homeowner.

Arab israelis are in fact the more secure, more well off non-royal arabs in the whole middle east.

Why does no Arab territory or country surrounding Israel have alert sirens, public shelters, or missile defense systems to protect Arabs?? All while spending hundreds of millions, in some cases billions, of dollars annually on missiles and rockets? 🤔

although it concerning issue, it's not only the arabs have this issue there are many cities in israel without shelters/bunkers
my grandparents have no shelter in their home.

Thank you DW you had given an oportunity the millions of Arab people living in Israel for the world to know. This only shows that Arab- Israeli's lives are much better compared an average arabs outside Israel.

It's upto the local authority to setup shelters.

And house hold shelters are mandatory since the early 00'
