When the battery on 1% takes a while to die. Its on purpose. It saves battery from the first bit of percentages and saves them for when your phone is about to die so you have time to do whatever you need to do before it dies or you charge it.

I just bought an iPhone 12 a week ago. Surprisingly it could lasts throughout the day, I also compared its battery life to my iPhone 7 plus which can only lasts for 3-4hours with 84% battery health. I’m only using WiFi by the way, since I’m working at home still, also I don’t have games on my phone. I often use Messenger, Instagram, Tiktok and YT. My phone’s screentime is roughly around 7-8hours depending on its heavy usage with TikTok and Youtube.

Based on my own regular 12 usage, the battery drains about 7-8% every hour if Im constantly on the phone (whatsapp, social media, bit on work apps, light short gaming, light music streaming, light web browsing including short videos)- so on a full charge would probably last 10 hours at a push. If I were to add Youtube but not Netflix, short phone calls will be closer to 7-8 hours. So Ill say the battery test here is more or less quite representative of real world usage.

I average about 8 hrs SOT, using 80% of battery (never charge 100% or discharge it 0% fully, to slow down battery degradation).

I turn on dark mode, turn off background app refresh + location services, use wifi. Will be different if I were out all day obviously using my 4G network.

Great video! For your info: you can tell Siri to set the brightness to a certain level. Makes it a bit more accurate :)

There is one variable that I see missing in all these comparisons and i think it's one of the biggest battery drains. 4G Connection. All these phones seem to be connected on wi-fi without a SIM. My phone when used on WI-FI is lasting much more than when I'm out and using 4G only.

This is very helpful, thank you. I was a bit worried about the iPhone 12 mini after all the fuzz related to the battery, although I think am an average user, e.g. I never play on my phone. While watching the video I received a mail stating that the 12 mini I ordered is now on its way. And I am looking so much forward to it. The size is awesome I think.
