Across Europe, there are over 120,000 people being held in pre-trial detention. That’s around 1 in 5 people in prison who haven’t been convicted of a crime.

Fair Trials has called for legal protections, to ensure that pre-trial detention is only used as a measure of last resort.

Until then though, could more be done to help those in pre-trial detention?
