I got my R7 from the Camera Store and am loving it so far. Stepping up from a 6D there are so many features to appreciate. The autofocus is just a treat. So much nicer than the contrast detect biased system in the 6D. I really like the manual focus assist feature as well. This camera has reignited my love for making images.

I have a Canon 60D and wanted to move up so I bought the Canon R7 with lens. I am not a camera person and always shoot in AF and have always been pleased with the photo quality for what I wanted for me, shooting car shows. The fist thing I didn't like was it seemed small to hold and I wasn't use to that and the grip is small. I understand that Canon doesn't make a Pistol Grip for this camera but there are a 3rd party company that does and the will give you the grip that you like and more battery storage. I haven't tried it yet but will and will order a Pistol Grip. Your review of this product was very good to watch for me.

I’ve been using my R7 couple weeks now, and really liking it. I was not a fan of the 7DII so I opted for an 80D, which to me was the perfect size and button layout. However, with medium size hands I’m finding the R7 really comfortable…small finger right on the bottom edge of grip, but not annoyingly so as with the RP. The “joystick” is pointless if you’re right eye dominant because the touch screen works awesome to move the focus point. I personally wish they kept the on/off on the left side and a display up top, but at the same time I find the screen bright and somehow even easier to access compared to the 80D. And with all the customizing options, it’s really hard to complain with a lack of buttons. As for the EVF, I wish it was at least similar to the Rs 3.69m display, BUT the higher frame rate is a must (I don’t recall the R having that). For some reason the EVF resolution doesn’t bug me like it did with the Sony A7III (I think was about same res). And the IQ is fantastic when using good glass. I’m really amazed at higher ISO shots (6400 and even 12800) when processed in DPP or DXO. Easily a stop better than what I’d accept on my 80D. For $2k the R7 is a great camera for sure!

Companies like Canon should have an automatic switcher between Electronic Shutter and and Manual Shutter, where below a certain shutter speed (e.g. 1/60) it should automatically switch to Electronic Shutter because you're "probably" not shooting action at a slower shutter speed (therefore Rolling Shutter wouldn't be an issue).

I solve the lower EVF res for still photography by using a 5.5" monitor by SmallHD. With 2000 nits brightness it's fine outdoors in bright light. Love it.

I Understand what you mean about the sound of the mechanical click. I thought the same thing, but you said it better!

Would love to tell you my thoughts on the R7 but here in the UK I have been waiting over 3 months for my pre-order with no firm delivery time in sight.
