Your washer will vibrate and make some noise, but it should be barely noticeable. If your washer is shaking violently, and it's a front load model, make sure the shipping bolts are removed. A level floor and washer will help reduce shaking, too. For rattling or clanging noises, give the washer a little bit of space, and check for loose metal items inside. Turning clothes inside out can reduce noise from buttons and zippers. And finally, if you hear squeaking or squealing, turn your washer off and request service.
