Ever wonder why demo-ing tile off drywall is way easier and comes off in big chunks? Notice there will be just a bunch of paper stuck to it because that's all the face of drywall is, paper. The tile isn't bonding to the drywall, it's bonding to the thin layer of paper that's on the face of the drywall. So in a literal sense, the only thing holding up the tile is the bond between the drywall and the paper on its face. They make durock and many many other products for that exact reason.

What do you think they were installing tile onto before cementboard. It's only been around for the past 30 some years. BTW That succulent BBQ chicken you had for dinner. Was actually once just an egg. Just saying

I used plastic panels from Home Depot, 1, 000 $ (for a set of 4) but i am very happy with my choice, very easy to install, one must only pay attention to the right openings for shower head and water valves (i placed them over bathtub, the tiles were falling).
