After the Isuzu MU-X won our 4x4 Big Test several months ago, it’s time to bring it back—but this time in 4x2 form, against two other midsize SUVs.

For this edition of the Big Test, we’re putting the Isuzu MU-X 3.0 LS-E 4x2 against the Ford Everest Titanium+ 4x2 and the Mitsubishi Montero Sport Ralliart Edition 4x2. In terms of age, the Isuzu is sandwiched between the recently launched Ford and the more senior Mitsubishi. Each contender has its own strengths, so we’ve come up with four sub-tests to really get to know these vehicles better and help you see which one best fits your needs. Correction: The Isuzu MU-X 4x2 featured here is the LS-E, not the LS-A. Price and specs stated are otherwise correct.

Family SUV, get the Everest.. Sporty SUV feel, get the Montero Sport...
Durable & long term use, get the MU-X

I just bought a 2022 MUX and I chose it not because of the facade but the durability overall. If you want to buy an SUV with this price, it should be durable enough to give better returns. To add to the context, I sold my Ford to buy an MUX.

When buying a car, always consider the ride comfort... Since 2016, the Ford Everest is no. 1 in ride comfort.... Be it in concrete road.. but more amazing is, the Everest rides comfortably on rough road.... If you always travel long distance, Everest is the best for you.

Nice review! I drive an isuzu mu-x LS-A 3.0 and this review definitely didn't let me regret my choice. One think to point out though is the acceleration of mu-x from stop, it is a bit slow but once you reach cruising speed you will feel it's power.

Our 2022 Mu-X is about a year old now. So far, we love it! Pros of the car is its space and practicality. May mga features na kulang but it’s okay, I think Isuzu’s approach is more on practicality and long term usage. I must say that the suspension of the Mu-X is really disappointing. In fact, mas comfortable pa sakyan yung first generation Mu-X (2014 model) namin. Acceleration of the car is also a bit sluggish but once you’re on the move, engine remains calm and capable naman at speeds 100 km/h above. Nababawi naman sya ng fuel economy hehehe. Steering is also a bit heavy pero it’s an advantage on long drives because you’ll feel that you have much control of the car. In conclusion, no car is perfect talaga. You’ll have to decide what really works for you. And most importantly, let’s avoid brand wars! 😊

I prefer the Isuzu MU-X compared to the Montero Sport and the Everest

The Everest is the clear winner imho. The fuel economy is right up there with the MUX but the ride comfort and extra features clearly make it the better mid-sized SUV.

Between these 3 SUV's, I'd pick the Everest. Ride comfort is a priority for me. Next are power tailgate and tech features.

Coming from a Ranger, I’m going for the Montero. Not too soft not too hard. Pang Goldilocks.

Comparing the MUX and Everest on fuel economy is only 0.3kilometer. I prefer to go for Ford. The ride quality, spacious, infotainment system, panoramic, stering wheel and more tech

I'm being a fan boy here, but 360 degree cam can be fitted after market and so can the suspension with Tein EDFC which can stiffen or soften the sus with click of a button. Add both these accessories + MUX's prices will be closer to Everest's price. The fixed 2nd row is a bummer but as shown in the video the 3rd row still has best space, so I can live with it.
Sadly here in India we only have one car dominating SUV space - that is the Toyota fortuner. Ford left India but is planning to bring back the Everest and EVs. Isuzu still offers old gen MU-X and the Skoda Kodiaq is a petrol only, Mitsu also left, Jeep Meridian is just Compass XL, MG Gloster comes with all the latest gadgetry and off road hardware but is more of a mall crawler. Long story short we are screwed.
& if anyone has made it till here, thanks for reading.🤗
