Why is the Toro Timemaster SO EXPENSIVE???

Toro's Timemaster is an exceptional product. For the past three years it has been an irreplaceable part of my fleet. But over the last three years, the price of this lawn mower has gone up 50% ($500). I have some guesses as to why. Let me know what you think.

I just purchased a Timemaster today and the price has gone up to $1699 in 8 months, crazy

Love my timemaster! I mow lawns after my full time job and was using a free mower for about 7 years and I saved money up for the new timemaster! My lawns used to take over a hour to
Mow with my other mower now it takes at least a half hour now not including trimming

To quote Warren Buffet: "Price is what you pay. Value is what you get." In this instance, I believe there may be some increase from the demand side, as pointed out. Also the supply chain and increased inflation. Those are all factors. But one thing you missed is the value of the dollar itself. I've heard of people with 3 year old vehicles that are offered what they paid or a bit more from the dealer. It seems many think this is amazing. But similar to this mower, did they do anything in the 3 years to increase the actual value of it? Doubtful. They used if for 3 years which means it has less absolute value than it had 3 years prior (due to wear and tear, etc). So, the vehicle now, no matter how you look at it, has less VALUE. But the PRICE is higher. Never confuse VALUE and PRICE, particularly when we have printed so much money over the last 3 years. The value of that mower new is EXACTLY the same as it was 3 years ago. What has happened is the economy has moved around it quite quickly. Perhaps so quickly many don't realize it. The real storm is coming.

I got mine back in 2014 loved that mower
Had to sell it due some life changes and moving into an apartment at the time.
But it made me a toro mower fan

I just paid $1499 at Tractor Supply for the electric start model #21200. There aren't many "wide" self-propelled mowers in this segment so without a lot of competition they can set the price

First off, Great video and we all appreciate the hard work you do. The Toro is a descent mower with a few flaws you have already mentioned so I agree with you 100%. When I noticed the price increase of the Toro, I chalked it up to the same reason I used to pay 1.99 per lb for chicken breast at Walmart and now I'm paying $3.29 per lb today ...same product. Manufacturers are needing to pass the costs of wage demands onto the consumer.I purchased my Toro and paid $1299 2 years ago so the $200 price increase is just the outrageous inflation. I'm not complaining because our home values have basically doubled in price over the last 7 years...but then again... what could we possibly buy today that will match our homes and our awesome lawns? !!!! Keep up the hard work !!

I just looked up the price for the Toro Timemaster at Home Depot, 8 Months after this video. It has continued to go up from $1499 to now $1699.

Was really wanting to get the timemaster. Being a dad and having 2 daughters I could not justify spending the 1500 on it. I thought to myself the super recycler would be more practical and save me money. Im loving my new toro and it provides a quality cut. The super recycler seems like it barely burns gas and is an awesome alternative for newbies like myself to lawn care. Thanks for the videos.

In Canada the price has doubled in the past 3 years, I use to pay 1200 for this but now it’s 2200 and that’s just for the pull start option, I won’t be buying a new one anymore, you can still get a riding mower for just a few hundred more

I purchased mine 4 years ago for $1, 000 and love it. Would I buy a new one today for $1, 500? Yes. This mower is a beast and workhorse. I mow two 1/4 acer lots every week and it starts on the first pull every time. The best mower I've ever had. I think I know why the price went up so much, because there is no competition for a 30" mower as nice as this for $1, 000. I wish Toro would make a 36" designed like the Timemaster.

First Aussie 😁. Jimmy, $1, 999 AUD for one in Australia, works out at $1, 239 USD, Hondas are expensive here as well . Honda hrx217hyu is $1699 AUD.or $1, 053 USD.Mowers are expensive over here also. 😳😬

Jimmy, great video, thanks for posting! I also own one, purchased this year for $1, 499 from a local Toro dealer. I love it and have about 20 hrs on it so far this season I was also surprised how the price jumped in a few years but held off until this year when my 26" personal Pace finally crapped out (after about 10 years of usage)
When shopping, I noticed Home Depot had this model for the same price as local dealers, so, in my opinion, Dealer was the way to go. As far as a new model, I just saw Toro is coming out with an updated version of the Timemaster in 2023, an electric version... and if you think the gas model is high, how can anyone justify $2, 400 for an electric version... Absurd to say the least.. This price is now in tractor territory..

I purchased the $1500 dollar mower a year a go and it came with no key or starter.😱😁 Also I see 1599 currently is the price and don't look at the electric one unless your willing to spend another grand. Yikes! Thanks for sharing! 👍👍

When I was looking in 2019 I found mine for around $1050. I remember I could have bought the entry level Troy Bilt 42" lawn tractor for about 50 bucks more. Price one of those these days and you'll see they aren't close anymore.

I have a 2013. Just cleaned the carburetor this weekend. “I am, I am Superman.” You would not believe how dejected my wife was when I told her we were out of carburetor cleaner. Lol.

Maybe I got lucky or kid at Home Depot messed up, but he told me it’s a discontinued model and charged me $699. I wondered if it was a return but the deck underneath was still brand new and had to add oil before starting. And I do not see it listed on Home Depot site anymore in the Northeast.
