World Rankings - The Top 10 Worst States in America for 2024!

Hey, gang! Today, we’re going to dive into the seedy underbelly of America.

We’ll be traversing the dark, sketchy alleys of statehood, and we’ll use the latest data to shine a light on which states need to finally grow up and get their act together.

If you live in one of these states, first of all, I’m sorry. But maybe this video will serve as a wake-up call. You can finally hold that emergency town hall meeting and try to scare your fellow residents straight. Who knows, maybe you guys start coming up with solutions, and next thing you know, your state is the Drum Major, or at least the Color Guard Captain, in the next Best State parade. Or, you can live in denial. It’s your choice. If you don’t live in any of these states, congratulations. You’re probably feeling good about yourself. Some of you may have survivor’s guilt. Either way, the following states serve as a cautionary tale to all those who dream about one day becoming a state.

For this ranking, we used the latest data on the economy, health, crime, infrastructure, affordability, and the environment and let the chips fall where they may.

Weird. I live in Colorado and had always just thought of neighboring New Mexico as a beautiful place to visit. We drive down in the spring when we want to get slightly warmer. I was shocked to find out how bad it was in so many rankings, especially crime. We just never go to Albuquerque. We stay in the smaller, mountain towns. I feel bad for them, and hope they can get better. The climate is amazing.

I was raised in New Orleans and left when I was 25 (64 now). I never regretted it. When I go home to visit my family, they always ask, "now that you're retired, are you going to move back home?" I always just smile and say I'm not.

I lived in Baton Rouge, Louisiana from 1975-1977 & it was by far the worst place I've ever lived.

I was born and raised in Ohio. I moved out in my 20's and have lived in 10 different states. 3 just moved back to Ohio a couple years ano I disagree with the statement that there's nothing to do in Ohio. It is one of only 8 states that have free State park access. Most of these parks are incredible. The infrastructure is slowly coming back. The bigger cities have great museums, and Ohio has a couple of the best amusement parks in the world with Cedar Point and Kings Island. Lake Erie is much cleaner now and provides many great beaches and waterfronts.g

All states have issues. Not expecting someone from NYC to like states like Oklahoma, Kansas or Nebraska. But I'm not expecting for someone to like NYC, Chicago, L.A. or Washington D.C. . Being a Truck driver I have my favorite states and those that i'd prefer to never visit ever again. NYC ..No thanks ! But New York state is a great place to visit.

New Mexico has some of the worst health care and hospitals than any state.

I lived in Lafayette LA for a few years as a young adult. As a military brat, I’d lived a lot of places before then. It blows my mind-education and racism were the things that bothered me most, but, OMG what a mess it is. I-10 will be under construction until eternity.

Shows how little you know about Michigan. Detroit is not the mess that it used to be. Flint is, but that is one city. Ann Arbor considered the best city in the US and in the top ten for best city to retire in. We are the least gerrymandered state in the US and also have enshrined women's and voting rights in the state constitution. And most importantly, we have lots and lots of fresh water and a moderate climate. The roads are getting fixed and long term, there will be reverse migration as people get tired of cooking on the southern parts of the US.
