A better list:
1. West Virginia
2. Kentucky
3. Alabama
4. California
5. Illinois
6. New York
7. New Mexico
8. Missisippi
9. Louisiana
10. Alaska

There’s no real order to this list other than West Virginia being at number 1, but this list is far better than yours

"It may be called the silver state, but it looks nothing like the beauty of something valuable." Damn what a poetic burn!

We live in Arizona, it is terrible, really it is, please do not move here, go somewhere else, we're full...

Information on where you are getting your stats would be great, because it seems like personal opinion since places like Alaska, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, West Virginia, and Kentucky aren't on the list and should be here in place of some of the states that are on this list. All those states are high in crime, poverty, and in the case of Alaska, a high cost of living and brutal weather. If you're going to tell someone that it is better to live in someplace like Alaska and Mississippi than a place like Texas then you really need to double check your facts because that sounds like a very misinformed opinion. Whatever problems Texas has pales in comparison to the states I mentioned which is why I question where you are getting your information from or if it's all your personal opinion.

This was very biased. How is Nevada and Arizona one of the worst states to live? And how come Alabama not on here? That’s some bull I don’t know where you getting that information from.

Moved to Tennessee in 2005 from Florida and never looked back! Tennessee is the best decision I have ever made ! Some of the nicest people are in Tennessee !

I grew up in Texas but left when I was young. After 20 years, I've returned with my family, but I'm considering moving away again. I feel the healthcare here isn't what it used to be and resembles Nevada's system. Additionally, Texas education rankings are disappointingly low. Texas might not suit everyone's needs.

Have to tell you, it's pronounced with the first "a" like hat, not ahh.
Reno has a thriving tech economy, especially since Tesla arrived. Tahoe (great outdoor activities) is within about 45-60 minutes. There are several smaller cities South of Reno that are growing. I don't know much about Southern Nevada...no desire to go to Las Vegas. Reno, Carson City, Minden/Gardnerville and Incline Village all have a lot to offer. Unfortunately, popularity comes at a price.

Interesting take, especially for retirement planning. Knowing where not to settle is as important as the best places.

I discovered you and started following you. You should do a Best and Worst States for Retirees. We couldn't care less about the school system and the job market but we do care about low cost of living, low taxes, safety, and health care.
