If you have been granted permission to remain in the UK as a partner or spouse of a British Citizen or UK permanent resident beyond 31 December 2024, you may be wondering why your Biometric Residence Permit card expires on 31 December 2024. The Home Office has taken the decision to short date all BRPs to no later than the end of 2024, as it is moving from physical BRP cards to digital immigration status. It is expected that all foreign nationals living in the UK will have access to their immigration status online by the end of 2024. Meanwhile, partner and spouse visa holders will continue to receive BRP cards which expire sooner than their leave expires.
