No need to unscrew the metal plate. Just slide the L-shaped plastic plate forward (there's a slight groove on the back of the left side to help), and you should have enough access to the space using the brush that came with the machine. The manual recommends only moving the plastic plate & lifting the bobbin casing, and this video does a good job of showing how to reseat the casing. I appreciated the reminder! I was seriously linty.

My machine was full of lint in the bobbin area. Thanks for this video. I used my air compressor and a blow nozzle to blast it out while holding the machine upside down. I then used a precision oiler pen to put a couple drops of oil in the places that rotate.

I have the same sewing machine and the screwdriver that came with it can be used on its side. Figured it out one day when I was trying to open it.

Thanks for this video. I was having tension problems with my machine: top tension too tight even when dialed all the way down to zero. Following the simple cleaning instructions in this video totally fixed it. Who knew?

Thank you! I love that you use coins to take at the screws for the plate. This is the first thing I found to work on mine and am still using them. LOL!
