Just to note, if you have a higher resolution/refresh rate monitor, but a capture card that ONLY supports 1080p60fps, Windows can now support display cloning downsampling.

For example, if you have a 1440p240hz monitor, but then a 1080p60fps capture card, you can clone your main monitor (1440p240hz) to your 1080p60fps capture card, and WIndows will automatically take that 1440p video signal, and downscale it to 1080p. Your main monitor will remain unaffected and will stay at 1440p, rather than changing to 1080p.

WIth recent NVIDIA and WIndows updates, it does will no longer use the lower refresh rate. Each display (in this case, the main monitor and the capture card) will run on their respective refresh rates! Passthrough is almost not needed anymore, assuming you have a good enough computer to handle display cloning!

what about audio? what is your setup? I use NDI so I have obs open on my main rig but it doesn't affect performance for me but was trying to find a better solution. I don't like using voicemeeter as well as I find it somehow makes my mic robotic at times. Probably because I used an audio interface, NVIDIA broadcast and voicemeeter lol

Is it possible to put the capture card into a gaming pc and use the line out to go to the hdmi port on a streaming laptop?

Does cloning caused any lag, stutter, or even screen tearing from gaming side?

Question for you. I have the cam link pro as well. Can I keep that in my gaming pc or does that need to be in the streaming pc as well? I have multiple cameras & using the 4k60 pro as well as the cam link pro would use all the pcie slots I have

Could you share what deak you are using in your setup. I was looking at something similar perhaps with a kitchen countertop that is about 2.5m to 3 m long.

Is there a way to do this if the gaming PC is AMD and the main is Nvidia?

Hello there and thanks for the gre
at work!
i did everyting as u mentioned and works like charm !
though i came up with something, when i close the game or alt tab in the gaming pc the display goes in and out like instant smooth zooming.
Is that normal or is something i can fix?

I have a quick question, which KVM are you using? I've tried a few and they've sucked so I'm looking for a good suggestion

Thank you for this video. I have a question. I have dual stream setup similar to this one. One of my concerns is that video setting in a game the capture card, Elgato 4k60 mk2, is recognized as display, not my monitor. Hogwarts Legacy and Ghost Recon Wildlands are like this. Is that normal or have I done something wrong? If this is normal, I'll let it go, but if it is fixable, I would like to fix it.

First of all thank you for the videos, they are so helpful !
For anyone reading this, I'm trying to do a dual PC setup similar to this.
Do you need a kvm switch to switch between 2 pcs and 2 monitors with 1set of keyboard/mouse? Or does the capture card does it?
