As someone with depression, and depressed friends, I try to make tons of jokes around them to cheer them up because I know what's it's like being hopelessly sad. I also made a habit of complimenting people so they feel better about themselves.

Back in 2019 me family was planning a trip to to see my uncle and cousins that live several states away. For months I was so excited to go and even planned things to do with them. However days before the trip I found out my dad couldn’t go so feeling bad that he was going to be home alone for a week I decided to not go on the trip but instead stay home with home. The week of the trip I saw on Snapchat how much fun my brothers and cousins had together but I didn’t care ad I was able to keep my dad company for the week. We both don’t really spend a lot of time together so that week was really a great time for both of us. I never told anyone why I stayed though and when asked I just say I wasn’t feeling well that week

Our grandma had 11 grandkids (she passed in 2019) and whenever any family would come visit she would give her grandkids money. I assume she did the same to our cousins as she did to me and my two siblings. So that was alot of money she gave away. She lived off of her "widows retirement" so that wasn't much. When we were still small we would keep it because we didn't see the big picture and our parents would never take away money that someone gifted to us but once we were older and realized how much money she must be giving away we always gave the money to our dad because he was the one who always made sure my grandmas house was fixed up. Issue with heating? Lightning strike and electrical issues? Leaking roof? Dad would always come as soon as he could to fix it. So we knew he would spend the money we gave to him on her anyways. She once said her eyes got worse and she couldn't see the players or the ball anymore when she'd watch soccer on her old ass tv. Guess who went and got her a new high resolution flat screen? Dad is a mommas boy 😊
