I got the 3s, and I've had very little problems with it, I'm very happy I got that one instead of the 3, the battery life lasts forever and it still looks great with the fresnel lenses

The problem occurs when using non-official chargers most of the time. Chargers that don't have the correct measurements for the Quest specifically.

I operate my quest plugged in while passive charging constantly.
Zero heat issues.

I think maybe folks are using cables that give excess wattage.
I stick to using the wall charger it came with, and a longer cable I got from Amazon. Alternatively I use 2 different battery banks that I swap out.
Both ways are C to C USB.

They're putting out warnings on the devices, do not worry. I had gotten a warning yesterday that there was liquid detected in my USB device, and there was, i had to clean it out. Please check your chargers for liquid, that could be the problem.

Easy. Just make 2 ports and double headed chargers. Now the load is divided by 2 👍

I actually have insight on this. The cable they used to connect the charge port (because its built in the arm) to the headset wears out as you twist the arm of the headset. the little wires inside start breaking. And as there are less wires connecting. The other ones have to pick the slack, thus getting hotter and hotter, and leading to the port melting. It's kind of, but not really the same thing that's happening with graphics cards right now.

It could be the chargers themselves. With everything being type c to c now. Certain chargers could be putting out too much power causing the issue

I have the quest 3 with the elite strap and battery, normally always have the battery plugged into the port while I’m playing, it gets noticeably warm but no where near hot enough to potentially set on fire.

However I think if people play it sat down and plugged into the mains then there is a potential for it to get hot enough,

I had quest 2 from the launch day and it still works. But sometimes it gets black screen, and doesn't boot. I have to go to fastboot and press the boot button.

Buy tiny heat sinks and put them around the charging port with thermal adhesive 😆
