Demon Lord Ghirahim is revealed to be the spirit of Demise's Sword, much like Fi is for the Master Sword. There are some cool hints to his true identity before the reveal!

i know Ganondorf's main weapon tends to vary, from his trident to twin swords, but i would love to see Ghirahim's sword form come back as Ganon's weapon

Ghirahim is one of my favorite villains in the Zelda Franchise with his flamboyant personality slowly shedded to show a sadistic, cunning, and merciless literal weapon of destruction… AND HIS NOT EVEN THE MAIN VILLIAN.

Ghirahim also makes note of the sword Link wields, saying that Link could only stand up to him because of that sword. The way he said it, though, could indicate that he was treating Link’s sword not as some tool, but as an equal in the most literal sense.

Also, the knowledge that Ghirahim’s the Dark Master Sword brings new and disturbing context to him stealing the Goddess Sword from Link and even licking it during their first duel.
