WHY ARE HIS CHARACTERS ALWAYS DEAD OR KILLED

I know people hate this death as Whitey was a great character, but this honestly perfectly represents the Wild West. Most outlaws and law men didn't die in some magnificent or heroic manner, they usually died suddenly without warning and generally from a bullet in the back. Whitey's death is sudden and unexpected. He was young, and just began to establish himself as an adult then it was all snatched away by a random knife thrown by a forgettable nameless outlaw. It's absolutely tragic, as it's intended to be.

I was hurt and mad!!! He was such a sweet boy. He really thought he was gonna go out, spar a few words of whit, and then shoot it out. He was young. Too young for this mans game. Wrong posse kiddo 😩😥 This really hurt my feelings. Lol. Excellent show!!!

Was pretty sad about it, He was my favorite character, even more so with the wave he died, he went in bravely without a second thought to defend the town with his life...only for him to be the first person to die in the battle without a single shot going off.

The only thing I didn't like in the whole series

This was honestly the worst thing in the entire show (in a heart-breaking, good way). It really got to me, even though I realized he was going to die, just didn't expect it to happen this way, with him not even firing his gun. His character was so annoying at first, and then became this sweet, lovely boy, which made it even worse.

Something tells me I'm not going to get over this anytime soon.

How did Sean Bean pass the torch to someone so young???

I see no problem killing a "main" character like Whitey. It does gives a show the feeling that any character is speandable so you can be on edge all the time during the battle.

But the way I see, Whitey's death seemed rather ridiculouss. What was all that talk on the other night with Maggie about how they all would get SLAUGHTERED unless they made up some kind of plan to hide somewhere where they would have advantage, to then, on the next day, simply go on out with an open chest and spinning his guns to face Frank Griffin and his 30 man? And all of that after seeing how they crushed Blackdom, a place filled with old war veterans that were prepared to the fight and had field advantage since they knew the place better.

Yes, Whitey was a show off stupid boy, but this death was so dumb I can't seem to buy it.

I don't mind that he died. But come on u built the character up so much and to have killed a near nobody. Should at least let him take a few with him.

Ive read a lot of the comments here and no one points out how ridiculous it was that Mary Agnes didn't make sure he was in the brick hotel with the rest of the town's people. How on earth did she allow a teenager to guard a jailhouse from 30 armed men by himself. They at least should have shown him fighting her to do it and being stubborn to give us more justification for his death. P.S. who else was waiting for the Indian grandma to come in and do some sharp shooting? Never came to fruition.

I thought this death was a real slap in the face, it just soured the rest of the climax for me. Whitey had so much development and was my favorite character, seeing him killed off so flippantly before the final battle even started was incredibly disappointing. The fact that he was killed, without the death of a single one of the leading women (who all spent the last third of the episode in a massive gunfight with hardly an injury to speak of), is a travesty. This entire finale felt very poorly executed.

They really could have had a better death scene with Whitey.. Honestly didnt even have to kill him at all.

Just finished watching the finale. I had a feeling he'll die, the bloody violin was in the intro the whole time.

This scene made me sad too. He deserved a fighting chance.

Why is Thomas Brodie Sangster always getting stabbed?

If you'd pay any attention to his character this wouldn't be unexpected at all, he was a great shot, but way too overconfident and cocky, it was sure to be his downfall. Though it is very anticlimactic it made a lot of sense. It seems to have become popular lately in TV-shows to give lead characters sudden non-glorified deaths, you can see the same thing with the marshal's death scene in one of the earlier episodes.

I like it how they can kill a recurring character off like that, but I didn't see the point in doing it with Whitey after building him up for so many episodes??

I swear, Thomas Brodie-Sangster signed some sort of contract where any character he plays will basically die in almost every show or movie he’s in!!!
