SSD Tiger Install on my PowerMac G3

This is the only video on YouTube that you can catch a Tiger install, from start to finish (and some bonuses) using an SSD! That's right folks, this G3 is bursting at the seams. It boasts a dual port SATA PCI card and an OCZ Agility3 SSD (HUGE thanks to everyone that donates to this channel!).

Thanks for watching! I hope you all enjoy...

You should try the hack to enable Quartz Extreme on PCI graphics cards with Tiger… It'll make all the animations perfectly smooth with your Radeon 9200 Graphics card. By default, Apple only allows Quartz Extreme to be used on Macs with AGP graphics cards.

I miss the intro video so bad!!! They were so welcoming and the music that keeps playing when the video is done is one of the little things I love. :P Tiger was my favorite intro video.

Those old Aqua scroll bars and buttons look so ancient now! And the old blue Apple logo!

nice video man! Crazy enough my iMac G3 beat your boot time from your IDE!  Mine took 44 seconds! Though when I opened all the apps.. it made it very sad and took several minutes before it could  catch its breath :P

I've never seen a G3 bounce around Tiger like that before. Incredible! Next up - Sonnet CPU upgrade eh? ;-)

Nice video, very cool idea! Need to pick up one of these machines to play around with, as it does look pretty fun. Any audio equipment videos on the way?

Great video! Have you tried putting a gigabit ethernet card in your G3? Would be interesting to find out if that is possible. Id like to upgrade my old G3 and turn into a fileserver. Also what is the maximum hard disk size it will take on the SATA card you installed?

When I upgraded the processor in my old MDD years ago I had to install a new motherboard to match not sure if this is the case with the G3.

Is this part of the "PowerPC Promise"?  ... because that was last year, and was supposed to last 2 weeks, but I never heard what the final judgment on that was....

Can you configure the 2 ide drives as Raid striping? Theoretically, it should double the speed of the drives (assuming they are both the same).

Great video as always! SATA 1 should still be able to push something like 150MB/s

will this sata card work on the os 9 side, I'm building a purely OS9 boot machine for fun, I only want to use components that work in OS9, can you list what hardware youv'e used that also works in OS9 side. Maybe do a video on what components work OS 9 side. which sata card would you recommend which will work OS 9 side that isn't too expensive ?
