Time to get to know the newest member of our long-term fleet, this 2024 Honda Accord.

The Accord was redesigned last year, kicking off its 11th generation here in the U.S., and we’ve had quite a few of those generations for extended tests over the years here at MotorWeek. No surprise as it is America’s best-selling car over the last 50 years.

Our Accord is sporting Touring Hybrid trim, which is the top trim available, and as you can gather comes with a hybrid powertrain, the fourth generation of Honda’s two-motor system which adds a pair of electric motors to an updated naturally aspirated 2.0-liter I4 for a combined output of 204 horsepower. It’s an upgrade over the standard Accord’s 192-horsepower 1.5-liter turbo and should deliver us a Combined 44 mpg.

This Radiant Red stunner has already made quite an impression on our drivers.

We’re at the point where we take hybrid powertrains for granted, forgetting they’re complicated, synchronized systems. But you would never know that driving this Accord Hybrid where the two electric motors work seamlessly with the gas engine. We also like being able to dial in more or less regenerative braking with these steering wheel paddles.

Inside, the new Accord is somewhat simplistic in design, but we’ve found it to be highly functional too, and the materials both look and feel great.

I like the orange snake in the engine.

I have this car. The Ex trim. It’s an excellent daily driver. The accord is not meant to be a sports car nor look like one.

I really don't see a lot of this new Generation on the Road.

For a boring car I don't want a CVT transmission.
I want something that will be smooth and last nearly forever.

Bring back the previous generation without the hybrid and the 2.0 turbo. Would probable recommend changing the tail lights. The look and styling of this 2024 accord is so boring.

I am not saying it isn't still a good car, but the sales have dropped off, and that was before the Camry went pure hybrid.

"... and we really like these pointless paddle shifters, which aren't really paddle shifters, but look really cool!" 😃👍

A disgrace Honda can't put out a high performance motoring hybrid system into their cars after they accomplished so much with it on the NSX.

This Accord is a plain-jane, at least the previous version at some chrome trim...

Many reports of fuel injector failures on low mileage Accord, CR-V, and new Civic. Very disappointing, Honda. C'mon man

Honda is slowly killing off interesting variants of their mainstream cars. I've been watching this depressing trend for the past 7-8 years and it just keeps getting worse. Accord coupe- dead. Civic coupe- dead. Accords with the V6 engine- gone. Accords with a manual transmission- gone. The 2.0 turbo engine in the previous generation Accord derived from the Civic Type R engine- gone too.

Honda, If your listening, you're going down a bad road by cutting out this interesting variety and hanging by a thread with only the Civic SI and Type R left.

Honda should bring all their parts suppliers and manufacturing back to Japan to save this brand if they are really serious about staying in business. The last best Honda Accord was back in 1993. Since 1994 their quality has been degrading year after year. Today, Honda Accord have no traction on market share.

Thankyou_

Is this a 2024 or 2014? Looks dated and the sales numbers reflect that.
