Training should be in my opinion, a lifetime pursuit. A little bit every day. I had a major set back two years ago...despite all my training all my life, I had a heart attack. Bad genetics can't be undone...but I worked on my cardiac rehab and worked hard to get stronger. Two years later, I am very fit. I am not where I want to be yet but I am working hard every day under my Doctor's guidance. No matter what... people keep working hard!

Patience, consistency, dedication and perseverance are a lost art it seems.

Thank you for speaking the truth into our generation of impatient young people that have been brainwashed by the advertising media with its lies and false promises.

Keep at it!

Ross is one of the few who speak the truth and tell people how it is without pursuing the not-so-mighty dollar. He does it for the love of it.

You inspire me.

My biggest downfall in my training has always been go hard for a while and then fall off. This is a big truth and my internal battle to overcome, long term self discipline. Thank you

Slow and steady may not be marketable, but that doesn't change the truth. Real results take time - Slow and Steady Wins The Race (HD)

Hi Ross,
your message should be publicized in all schools particularly in the USA.
You said it all about the Time, Dedication and Result not only in sports but in every goal we aim in life.
keep up the good work!

What you're talking about is very true, it seems like my generation (people who are around 20 years old and younger) are out to get everything NOW, and some things just don't come NOW, you have to be patient. I appreciate you taking the time to make this video, because a lot of people need to hear it.

Brother...you are a true LIGHT in this industry. For someone like me you reaffirm a deep truth that is missing from todays mass marketed philosophy. Much Gratitude to you brother. You are valued and greatly appreciated. Peace

Never tire of Ross' common-sense approach to fitness.

EXCELLENT video. Someday maybe people will understand that 'better' and 'faster' are not necessarily the same thing.

Over a decade, well better late than never for me to catch on. Time can never be gotten back so that makes it precious. But what you do with it is what really counts. Rarely do you hear trainers explain concepts the way you just did.

Very impressive.

Great talk, Ross. I just started my new life of being fit. I weight 300 pounds now and I know my goal weight of 210 will not come by the end of next month or the end of this year. But this video was a GREAT reminder to keep going when I'm not making those gains I want to see.

Keep up the good work!

In many ways, the only ideal response would be "it depends" per my last video (watch?v=qlE2JfPTqVQ). It all depends on what I'm training. In addition, splits are not specific to bodybuilding. There are loads of options. Once again though, it all depends on my goals at the time. I do not box however. I fought for many years, but now train fighters. At this point in my life, I spend more time holding the mitts for other fighters than I do throwing punches of my own.
