I bought it to go in the car glovebox - I did like the look of the KT-9900 because it’s also tiny and the screen is on the mic. I may still switch to that in which case I will make a little man pack out of the IC-980 for when I go out on the motorbike

For $85AUD delivered to my door, it seems a reasonable buy. It's just another Chinese radio, but looks like it would work OK for most entry level operators.The sellers all claim output power of 25w, so I assume about 15w MAX, more than enough power coupled with a decent antenna for most people, it would be good as a mobile unit as it's too small.

Great modulation, super small size, but the harmonics are very bad.... I had this radio but just because of the harmonics I sent it back to the store :/
