Stelyo Berber // Stelios Berberis - Müzisyen // Musician

Musician Stelios Berberis is Greek, born and raised in Istanbul. He sung with the Patriarchal church choir, under Leonidas Asteris from an early age. Stelios travelled to Greece in order to study economics and learn traditional music under Domna Samiou, as well as taiko. In 2009 and he started the ensemble Cafe Aman Istanbul with his wife Pelin Suer. They revived the music scene and spirit of the Cafe Aman taverns in the melting pot Istanbul is, drawing on rembetiko repertoires from a century ago.

Müzisyen Stelyos Berber Istanbul’da doğma büyüme bir rum. Erken bir yaşta, Istanbul Patrikhanesinde hocası Leonidas Asteris ile tanışıp, bizans müziğini meşk etmeye başladı. Daha sonra ekonomi okumak için Yunanistan’a gidip, orada ayrıca Domna Samiou ile yunan halk müziğini, ve laiko öğrenmiştir. 2009’da eşi Pelin Suer ile Cafe Aman Istanbul’u kurdu, ve taverna ile rembetiko kültürünü geri getirdi.
