A woman has filmed herself washing her boyfriend’s stained pillows after 10 years – and social media users are horrified at the state of them.

In the viral video, the TikToker claims her boyfriend refused to replace his pillows and had never washed them once in an entire decade.

She documented the entire cleaning process, washing three of the grim pillows – which appear yellowed and filthy – and the result is astounding.

While her boyfriend was at work, she placed them in the bathtub and threw in a couple of dishwasher tablets.

She then poured some Borax powder into the tub before adding bleach into the mixture.

The TikToker proceeded to use a mop to wring out the dirt from the pillows before tossing them into the washing machine.

Surprisingly, the pillows came out completely white – a stark contrast to their dark yellow and brown shade before the wash.

The video has since gone viral on TikTok, gaining over 1.7 million views and leaving users in shock at the state of the pillows before they were washed.

One said: “With that alone, I would replace the boyfriend. Hygiene is everything.”

Another added: “10 years of sweat, dead skin, dirt, oil and bacteria”

Meanwhile, one wrote: “They are meant to be replaced every two years... they come with expiry dates on them...”

“he probably won’t notice” like those pillows didn’t get 100 shades lighter 😭

My friend did this for her roommate and it turns out one of the pillows belonged to her late father and still smelled like him. She cried for days after that.

My grandfather had a quilt made for me when I was born. It was hand stitched so I didn’t wash it much because I was afraid it would tear. I used it as a decorative quilt on the top of my bed and maybe to snuggle under in wintertime when it was really cold. My mom put a wool backing on it when the back panel eventually became threadbare and started to fall apart. I had it for 35yrs until my exhusband decided to wash it and hung it up outside, only he didn’t lay it flat. He bunched it up on over the top of several rows of clothesline. I didn’t know he’d done this until I couldn’t find my blanket. He said “oh shit! It’s outside. I forgot about it.” It had been out there for days in the summer sun. The areas that were bunched up were molded, and the parts that were exposed to the sun had baked and become brittle. The backing was an old 100% wool blanket that was my uncle’s (deceased) from his VMI days and it had shrunk from the intense heat. I was devastated. I’m 54 now and am still salty asf

Congrats, you'll be cleaning after this guy for the rest of your life

Please be careful mixing cleaners together. They are usually safe individually, but can cause terrible skin and lung irritation, when mixed.

I made a quilt for my son while i was pregnant. He loved up that thing til it was threadbare. When he was about to graduate hs, i made him a new quilt to take to college. On the back of his new quilt was a heart cut out of his baby quilt with the following embroidered on the heart :love quilty XO (what he called his baby quilt). I also smuggled the quilt to his best friend and had all his friends sign it. I am crying just remembering this. He's 31 now. Xomom

I have a stuffed animal that looked extremely grimey, because he was old and went through a lot. But his smell has people attached to him that I could never get back. My wife decided to do something nice for my birthday one year, so she asked if I wanted him cleaned. I told her that it would be nice, but I'd be worried he'd smell different so I don't know. I left for work. She took all the stuffing out and washed him and groomed him until he looked brand new. Then, she put the old stuffing back in. When I came home and saw what she did, I was terrified and she quickly held him up to me and said "No no, don't worry. That's why I asked you why you loved him like this so much. He still smells the same." And I smelled him and he did. It made me so happy, and honestly, it's so nice to be hugging a clean and happy looking plush now. If you want to do something like this, ask your loved one first. And make sure you don't ruin something that can't be replaced. I'm so glad I have such a compassionate and understanding wife.

Pillow protectors that get washed occasionally do wonders to prevent this from happening in the first place. Pillow cases are pretty thin and sweat and whatnot goes through them.

I had a pillow like this when I was a kid. It was nasty, yellowed and had a few red stains from nosebleeds I’d had while sleeping. It was also the most comfy pillow I’ve ever owned. My mom would scrub it occasionally to keep it clean, but one day she decided to save some time by putting it in the washing machine. That pillow came out of the wash like a sack of potatoes. All the fluff was crumpled together in a ball at the bottom of the pillow. The inside felt like wet clay. Clearly it was that pillow’s time to go, but I was still devastated.

DO NOT mix the cleanrers as she does. it is extremely dangerous and the resulting gases can kill you.

there’s probably a lot of context we don’t have here but if your boyfriend genuinely refuses to wash his pillows there’s something insane going on there and washing his pillows while he’s at work is not a solution

When I was a baby I had a blue blanket that I loved and carried everywhere plus to bed. Whenever my Mother washed it I'd drag it on the floor until it felt the way I liked it. To break me from this habit my family started cutting the blanket smaller and smaller until nothing was left but a piece of the ribbon. I carried that piece of ribbon til kindergarten. I just loved the feel of it. This was 50 years before sensory troubles were explored as I'm almost 72 now.

Mixing dishwasher tabs, bleach, and who knows what else in the bathtub is a recipe for a chemical reaction disaster.

I have a pillow like this.. I keep a cover on it. As gross as it may be, it was the last pillow my mom ever used. She didn’t pass away, she unfortunately just abandoned me. The pillow is all I have left. I guess the only thing I can say is he’s got some attachment to these pillows obviously. So we shouldn’t judge before we know why :/

EDIT: I’d like to add I keep a pillow case on it to the side, it’s not a pillow I use but rather one I just keep in my room. More like a momento

If his pillows look like that, God only knows what condition his sheets and mattress are in.

Ruining finely aged pillows should be followed with jail time. It will take years for that pillow to be perfect again....
