Have you ever wondered why is sea water or ocean water salty and from where do these salts come from?

The salt in the ocean comes from the rocks on the land.

The rain that falls on the land contains some dissolved carbon dioxide from the surrounding air. This causes rain water to be slightly acidic due to carbonic acid, which forms when carbon dioxide and water mix with each other.
