Amazing volcanic discovery!
This scene shows Earth scientist Dougal Jerram at the extraordinary volcanic activity of the region and the part it plays in the bigger geological picture of the Rift Valley. Here on this break off expedition they look for and discover the strangest volcano in the world, where the ground opened up during an earthquake creating an explosion known as the Dabbahu fissure.

This could use an update since it is almost ten years old. Would be nice to see the changes.

The mask has positive pressure, it losing a bit of the face seal would have just caused air to blow out the sides and used the air in the tank up quicker. The detector for H2S went off a 10ppm, the max allowable for 8 hour exposure.
I worked as a H2S safety specialist for 17 years in the Canadian oilfield.

I like how he starts coughing, while wearing a positive pressure breathing mask, like he is somehow inhaling the gases when the alarm goes off.

Can't wait to see the next update on this story in 10 million years!

What is interesting is that the drone shot shows in the background an older hill with a fissure also exists, this should indicate the sideways movement of the fault zone.

We are seeing the beginning of 10million year process.
That's mind boggling.

I really appreciate that they have a mountain safety guy named Mark Diggins

This has been happening for a very long time. The rift zone has been active and known about for ever.

Oh the devastating drama of it all!
(and as usual, while looking back over the vid, I realize that very little of anything happened.)

It was all suprise. BUT, there was a camera set up ahead of them showing them arriving and a plane above showing everything. What a suprise!

Das Interessante ist, dass das Ganze viel schneller geht als vorhergesagt.
