The valve index 2 vr headset is coming. The next vr headset from valve also known as the valve deckard is in full production according to some big new statements aswel as a new Half-life vr game as its launch title. This could be the next half life alyx sequel or the long awaited half life 3 for virtual reality.

what i want from the index 2. cable bound OPTION so that i dont have to have compression. it can have wireless sure, but if theres no way at all to wire it for no compression, then iam out. 2 higher res panels, at least 2100x2100. 3. pancake optics. 4. a bigger ipd range, my wife has 55mm and nothing but the beyond supports that, giving her eye strain after 10 minutes. 5. lighthouse compatibel, i dont wanna rely on inside out tracking when i already have bay stations

I've been looking at VR occasionally for the last few years but haven't bought anything. I will when index 2 launches.

Valve made the best VR title to ever exist. Sucks they have not made any more titles or has been slow in releasing an index 2 which will be tough to go against metas prices. They should cencentrate on making hit games and finding a way to make an index as cheap as meta.

They really need to launch two versions. One that’s great for wireless and plug in use, aka hybrid. And one that’s specifically for wired use. I want more than 180hz and a perfect display for VR racing. Not compression/more weight/more latency.

If old Index is still in some aspects better then most recent META Quest, then I'm definitely excited and waiting for next Index!
So you got my attention as anything META is not my cup of coffee. So I'm curious and awaiting a great VR set.

It’s May 2025. Index 2 has been rumored to be released every spring or fall since 2022 when I purchased my index headset and started following this. I sincerely hope a fully wired option is available so I have not been waiting for something with less immersive quality than I currently have.

When the big screen beyond was announced, I pre-ordered that and I’m so glad I did. Valve is going to have to really blow me away for it to replace my current headset. The big screen beyond is not perfect, but it is damn near close.

Thanks for your news on various VR products. I am not fussy about must have features of the Index 2 (pretty sure the features will be good - maybe a wider FOV), but more interested in the cost of this Index 2. Will it be a headset costing over 1, 000 dollars?
It is nice to know there will be a new Half life VR game coming in the near future. I have all the other Half Life Alyx and Half Life 2 games which are awesome. Gaming for VR in 2024 has jumped to a new level of graphics quality.
