What do you think — game-changer or just wishful thinking? Let’s talk in the comments below 👀

I think the underestimated feature which will be make or break for deckard is having access to steam desktop and full Linux apps within the headset. At that point it's a laptop as well and totally worth the price tag

fun fact, Deckard and Roy are likely references to Blade Runner, specifically the characters Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford's character), and Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer's character)

Had the index since day one and run bigscreen now. I would buy Deckard in a heartbeat. Valve index just is an all around quality headset at its time and I'm almost positive that valve will release another solid quality headset. Valve just knows VR

I think the $1200 includes the compute unit, codename Fremont, and that it won't be built into the HMD, but rather a separate unit that connects wirelessly, making the HMD light and comfy. There is no way they added the compute unit and cooling to the HMD unless they made MASSIVE strides with foveated rendering. I really hope the Deckard isn't heavy and an all-in-one.

My only opinion, if it releases I'm buying it. 😂

I've had a Quest One and I use it pretty much exclusively for PCVR. My computer is even older than the headset. I've been really close to upgrading my GPU many times. But if the Deckard is powerful enough standalone, I won't hesitate to buy it and basically have a (relatively) more powerful PC + headset for the price of a powerful PC.

I'd be more interested if there was a non/less-standalone version and I think I prefer the knuckle controllers that grab your hands. Foveated rendering seems like a no brainer for massive performance boost and eye tracking in games. Either way would be happy to VR pushed forward though.

I hope it's very repairable and upgradable just like the steam deck and be the first standalone headset to support micro sd cards.

So happy to see you doing content again. I know you’ve been busy. I’ll wait to see what the specs are before I make a decision to buy it.

My concern for this headset is the lack of PCVR titles being released! As a Valve Index owner I am absolutely thrilled to spend money on new and improved technology BUT.. I haven't seen much in terms of new content being released on Steam VR. Luckily for me, A lot of PC games are porting over to VR to give those games a new life! But if we don't see more content then I believe the entire VR industry will collapse. We need more cross-play titles between PC and PCVR and even Console. Games like Rec Room bring in a lot of people!! I would absolutely buy a game like COD or Battlefield if it allowed PC players to play along with VR players!!

Take my money, Valve! I’m so excited for this. And while a high cost is not ideal, at least it means there will probably be less children running amok in their games.

I thought for sure the Index 2 would be out by 2021. I waited till 2022 until finally giving in and getting a Index despite the heavy rumors of an immenent successor for years 😂 This time feels different like it will actually happen again but who knows.

You’re one of my favorite YouTube channels and cover the VR space very well.

I really hope there is still a wired option. It would be cool to reuse index cable. No need to worry about a dying headset and uncompressed data streaming.

I really want this thing. I wish I don't know about these leaks, because now I'll just be thinking about it until it comes out

You skipped over one very important thing. Will it also connect directly to HDMI via cable. As a PCVR enthusiast this is the only thing I am looking for.
