High gain 9 dBi dual band wifi antenna VS original TP-LINK routers

In this video, we will compare TP-Link WDR-4300ND dual band antennas and WR-1043ND 2.4 GHz
Then try 2.4 GHz 5 GHz 9dBi RP-SMA antenna wifi dual band for TP-Link TL-WDR4300
I put my router next room not so far away and got quite poor signal. You can see why in next part of the video
Now we will test it with 9 dBi antenna
In theory, 3dBi will double signal strength at receiver point
After restarting, I got better performance this time with channel 11
Now let's take a look in side those antennas
I got TP-Link TL-WR1043ND which is 2.4 GHz
And it has grey antenna
And this is TP-LINK TL-WDR4300ND which is 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz dual band WiFi router
Its antennas are black
2 types of antenna look the same
In side the 2.4 GHz antenna is typical Dipole Omnidirectional Antenna
The dual band antenna look strange to me, and it is only half length of its cover
So I think TP-Link should cut half of the antenna to save space
Now we will see my high gain 2.4 ghz 5ghz 9dBi RP-SMA antenna wifi dual band for TP-Link TL-WDR4300
the high gain is double the 2.4 GHz's length so it is 4 times the original dual band from TP-Link
The high gain has 3 twisted copper and 3 ferrite elements the short twisted element is for 5GHz
Now we will see 3 types of antenna side by side

I bought some "dual" band antennas but when I opened one, it was IDENTICAL to another 2.4ghz antenna I already have. Now I have some ammo to go back to the seller with.

Look inside the black 5db dual band antenna housing. Willing to bet there's an element that stayed behind. Rap it on a table vertically and you might get it to pop out.

I have the TP-Link Archer A9, and having hard time removing the Antennas ! I've replaced dozens of Antennas . Am I being to gentle? There is no " groove marks " around were you remove the antenna, it enters into the router as a square instead of a circle ...

I have an Archer C7 version 5 but it does not have removable antennas. These don't have a fitting that looks like they can be turned. It is like what you would find on a low cost router like the C20. Older versions of the C7 DID have removable antennas. I guess they did it to cut costs. I do get my full internet speed in most parts of the house and that is 100 megabits. Or at least that is what it was when I had an older router without gigabit Ethernet. With the gigabit Ethernet I now get an extra 15-20 megabits consistently. My old router was one of those Actiontec MI424WR routers used by Verizon. I got it from a Verizon customer who got an upgrade. Actiontec is a good brand but mine was just old and outdated. It probably was even draft N. When it was new it was one of the better routers anyhow.
