Nice fix, I had just the opposite problem with a sheath on one of my GI Tanto I purchased years ago as the knife did not fit in the sheath, the second one fit both just perfect. The first knife I believe is just a little thicker but I really believe it a genuine GI Tanto.

I had problems with my Cold Steel bushman sheath. I didn’t have a heat gun so I tried using a lighter. Long story short I ended up buying a custom Kydex sheath for it. I’m glad my tai pan is the older model with the leather sheath.
