its a type of sea louse on the whitings tail. They get loads of them in the warmer water on the south coast. They will strip the flesh from fish in no time in commercial nets, leaving just bones and skin, then eat all the bait in pots. Ive only ever seen one off the Norfolk coast, and that was last summer. It must be due to the water warming up, as I havent seen one in the last 34 years of beach and commercial fishing
