Sweden's Gripen vs Russia's MiG-29 - BVR Engagement
BVR engagements present a combination of strategy and skill, where the ability to strike first from the shadows can mean the difference between victory and defeat. Today, we're diving into the exciting world of BVR combat with a showdown between Sweden's Gripen and Russia's MiG-29. We'll be comparing their capabilities and going all out to find out which fighter jet reigns supreme. Stay tuned for an epic face-off! The Gripen is a swing-role fighter aircraft designed by Saab for Swedish Air Force. The aircraft features a delta wing design and comes with canard configuration. With an overall length of 50ft[15.2 m] and a wingspan of 28ft [8.5 m], it strikes a balance between size and performance. While the , the MiG-29 is a highly capable Russian fighter jet. It measures 56.7ft (17.32 m) in length, has a wingspan of 37.3ft (11.36 m). The Gripen and MiG-29 possess unique specifications that can have significant impact on their performances in BVR engagements. The MiG-29 is larger in terms of both overall length and wingspan compared to the Gripen. The Russian jet demonstrates superior engine thrust and maximum takeoff weight, providing it with potential advantages in terms of power and payload capacity. On the other hand, the Gripen showcases a slightly higher top speed and longer range, offering benefits in terms of speed and endurance during BVR encounters. The MiG-29's higher service ceiling may also contribute to its situational awareness and positional advantage. Ultimately, the outcome of BVR engagements depends on a multitude of factors, including avionics, weapons systems, and tactical execution which we will discuss next. While most modern jets incorporate electronic warfare capabilities to varying degrees, the Gripen-E surpasses its counterparts, especially when pitted against the MiG-29. With its advanced electronic warfare suite, the Swedish Jet outshines other aircraft. The Gripen E is equipped with an impressive array of 10 weapon stations. The Gripen is armed with a selection of potent options, including the Meteor, AIM-120 Amraam, and Mica missiles. On the other hand, the MiG-29 is outfitted with 7 hardpoints, capable of carrying up to 8,800lb (4,000 kilograms) of weapons. The aircraft is armed with the formidable R-77 and R-27 missiles. 200% sure it's gonna be on the side of gripen. Su 35 /mig 31 or Su57 would create a different story.

This isn't even a fight. The Meteor missile was developed on the Gripen-C (JAS-39C) and it's the deadliest LAAM in the world today. The Gripen also has one of the most potent EW suites in the world, exceeding those of the Typhoon and Rafale. The new JAS-39E has better radar jamming capability than an EA-18G Growler. The Gripen doesn't need a stealthy design to remain undetected.

The way I see this, Gripen is like a fighter straight out of an anime series. I mean it's electronic warfare, radar and avionics features kinda reminds me of the Zero System of Gundam Wing... If NATO don't want to give F-16 to Ukraine then better give this fighter instead.

theorically in the 3rd ORLD AR, THE ENEMY ALREADY WILL HAVE inside the enemy countries, like, for example, stationary or moving very capable land based radars, so, thing get even more complicated and planes can be ambushed even before geting out or their respective countries.

In other words Gripen is good against Afghan fighters wearing flipflops. Works good in videogames too.
But it never fought in a real battle
