It’s better to use cold water with bleach. While it is inaccurate to say that bleach comes completely ineffective when diluting it with hot water, it is completely accurate to say it does become less effective because the heat breaks down the sodium hypochlorite much faster, meaning it won’t have enough contact time to disinfect while it is still active. So if you’re using bleach to sanitize your laundry, stick to cold water. Don’t even worry about your clothes not getting clean when using cold water because the majority of laundry detergents are now effective in cold water, even if the label doesn’t specifically say so. You would think the people at Clorox know this!

I did a full cup, and hot water on my high efficiency machine on sheets wash. Hopefully this works more effectively. My mom always told me to pour it directly on, but this machine has a bleach dispenser. Maybe that's why that pain in the butt chocolate stain won't go away!
