Do NOT use chlorine bleach when doing laundry! #laundry

This is a dry cleaners explanation of chlorine bleach vs. oxygen bleach. Long story short, you should never use chlorine bleach in the laundry room unless it’s a last ditch effort!

In this demo I stained two green cotton swatches with mustard stains and then treated one with chlorine bleach and the second with oxygen bleach; I believe the results speak for themselves.

Chlorine bleach is AMAZING at removing color, but it does not know how to differentiate between ‘good’ color and ‘bad’. Whereas oxygen bleach only targets the color of stains. That’s because while both reactions use oxidation, oxygen bleaches use a much much milder form.

To use powdered oxygen bleaches, like @OxiClean, fill a bucket with hot water, add some powder, and let it soak overnight, then wash. Oxygen bleaches require high water temperatures and lots of time to work.

Don’t want to do all that? Spray 3% hydrogen peroxide on your stain and let it air dry and check the results the next morning. This is less efficient but much easier and less time consuming.

Happy cleaning!!! 😊

I would love to see more laundry detergent rankings! Specifically on powder detergents such as Ariel :)

Sodium percarbonate will also fade colours, though to a much lesser degree. In other words, only use when you really need it and never use it on blacks/darks.

What happens to your clothes long term if they are washed with color safe bleach for every wash load? Does color safe bleach have an effect when used with cold water? Love the videos!

I don't have laundry sanitizers in my country, so bleach would be the only option. Could you make a video showing how to safely do this, please?

What’s your thoughts on using Dawn, laundry booster and 1 tablespoon detergent for stains/whites?

Is there ever a time that you would want to use chlorine bleach, like for sanitizing towels? Or is there something different you'd recommend? Love this channel, btw! It's already helped me with my laundry game!

So I should use hot water with oxyclean? Also, for all the people with small children, what gets out blood, poo, and pee the best?

I've been washing all my clothes on cold regardless off what is labeled. Is that a bad idea?
