You ever think about how one day someone sat and worked out each of the multitude of knots? Just got some rope, saw how it was tangled and reverse engineered it, or just came up with it themself? Doesn't that blow your mind?

This is timed SUPER WELL, THANK YOU! I'm staffing Woodbadge next month as a troop guide and we're handing out friendship dangles to members of our patrols which are basically two contrasting strands together in a diamond knot. I'm going to point them to your video before we do the zoom call practice so they can be experts when we all meet :-)

I appreciate this short so much, I've been getting confused trying to figure out diamond knots from images and other videos. Maybe in a few months I'll try a wide diamond lol

Thanks man! I need a refresher on this knot every now and then. I used to pull up your video from 2014 for that, but this is way faster. I appreciate it!

What you have tied is a foot rope knot with a foot rope knot you finish with the ends going up through the middle of the knot, and because both diamond and foot rope knots gape the diamond at the top and the foot rope at the bottom by going over the two before you go up through the middle this helps the foot rope knot from gapping whereas there is nothing that you can to stop the diamond knot from gapping, also a diamond knot you don't need to go up the middle as the ends stay on the out side.

Only took me 5 tries. LOL
Fascinating how I can find several ways to mess up a pretty simple knot.

I'm already familiar with the diamond knot process, this one for me? Is the "second version" of thing it. With the same result.

Weird, I’ve been practicing this knot a lot lately. I knew it as a “lanyard knot.” But, this method seems quite a bit more intuitive than the method I’ve been using...
