The first part isn’t a Carrick Bend, that would have the ends on the same sides. In the olden days, this was a knife lanyard knot.

The diamond knot is a foot rope knot inside out and also a foot rope knot is a diamond knot inside out which would mean that the two ends and the handle would be on the other side of the knot .but there is a moor direct way to tie the diamond knot.

The only problem is that this a foot rope knot which is the inverse of a diamond .
