Geologists Andrew Snelling and John Whitmore show us how they use geological maps in their research. From the documentary "Is Genesis History?: Mountains After the Flood." Watch the full film on YouTube.

Transcript:
so this is a geological map you can see it's been well us well used well used I've had this out in the Grand Canyon many times in my pack you know I can tell if you're going to be a geologist you need to learn how to unfold and fold Maps that's right yeah you'll notice that this is a very colorful map yeah um every color on here is a different uh kind of rock layer when we floated down the canyon and looked at the layers these colors now represent what we were seeing y every every color is a different layer mhm the Grand Canyon goes through here it starts way up here in fact the the very upper part is not even on the map but it comes down uh through this way uh wraps around down this way goes off the map over there and this is just the eastern part yeah there's a whole another western part that sits over there in Lake me after that is Carbon Canyon on here yes Carbon Canyon is up here

I don't know much about the grand canyon. I'm in Canada, so this is interesting to me.

"Mountains after the Flood."

Shows a canyon...

About what I'd expect.

I’m a professional geologist and I’m confused on what I just watched? If this was a YT short with no title I’d actually be less confused.

It’s just three guys describing a basic geologic map of arguably the most popular geological formation in the US.

Am I missing anything?

...different "stratigraphic units". Obviously, these fellows have had no formal training in geology and folding "geological maps" is the least of their problems. Best to reverse roll geologic maps and carry them in a tube so repetitive folding doesn't eventually destroy them. There's also a color-coded legend to one side of the map that correlates stratigrapgic units by age of formation, indicating a roughly 600-million history of the overlying sedimentary units sitting on metamorphic and igneous basement rocks that predate megafauna life on earth. All this was formed and in position long, long before the Biblical flood.

If folding a map back to its original fold were a requirement to graduate;
I probably would need to retake remedial map folding first grade level & have to have an aide to assist lol.

If you look at a map of the eastern part of the Grand Canyon, you can see that some of the side canyons point upstream. The map in this video does not show it, though.
Where the main river first cuts into the uplifted plateau, the side canyons flow down the side of the plateau. Where they meet the river, the streams reverse direction as they merge with the Colorado.
That phenomenon would absolutely not occur in a catastrophic runoff event. Side canyons are a product of gradual erosion. Reverse side canyons are a product of gradual uplift.
The rocks show these guys are wrong. The fact they haven't noticed shows they haven't noticed.
