I was 4 years old when my Dad took us to the local Drive-In Theater in Milford, DE in our family station wagon where I watched entranced in fascination at the movie in full color, the special story line, and the magnificent music. I am now 68 years old and I have hummed some of the music from this movie all my life as well as learning to play some of the pieces on piano. Most of all, this movie above all others made a significant Impact on my life by drawing me closer to the Lord, and trying to follow Moses and Joshua as Role Models throughout my life.

They could never produce such monumental and epic films of this magnitude ever again. So gratful for this period of epic, cinema masterpieces. Such as Ben Hur, the Robe and the Ten Commandments.

"The Ten Commandments" (1956) is my favorite movie! And, in my opinion, the soundtrack is the best ever composed! Now the present "full soundtrack" is not so... but nearly! In fact, there are 3 pieces that are lacking: 1st - "Overture" (not to be confused with the "Prelude" plus the initial credits); 2nd - "An "Intermezzo" (at the intermission) & 3rd - "Exist music" (to be heard when people are get out from the theater). I saw this movie for the first time as a very young teenager and only when I got my 70' I realized those missing pieces when I bought a special edition DVD where that 3 musical pieces were included. Magnificent DVD, where even the usually deleted scene where Cecil B. deMille spoke before the shut curtains is also present. It is unbelievable that during the Gala of the Oscars, the prize for best soundtrack went to Victor Young, for its (also magnificent, indeed) "Around the World in 80 Days". My tears rolled down strongly over my face when e knew that the doctors, trying to improve the great lack of memory subsequent to Heston's advanced stage of Alzheimer disease, they showed him (for the last time) "The Ten Commandments". Heston did not recognize him as starring in the movie, but he managed to utter: "BEAUTIFUL MUSIC"

As a kid growing up, I looked forward to watching this movie with my family every Easter. (Passover was about the same time). The music....made me feel emotional. Especially at the beginning, the giving of the Commandments, and the end. The whole movie is a masterpiece. Wow. No movie has made me feel so good to experience. Not this many times, anyway. Made before my time by about 7 years. It's a long movie, though. And have to set aside 4-5 hours to watch it. But it's worth it. I have the DVD's. (Yes, my set is spanned over 2 DVD's. which is fine. Break time in between)
