This is still done today. I just did this a few times this past 2 weeks. The story I’ve told a bunch of people is I was waiting for test from a sleep study I did. I was told to expect 4 weeks but after 4.5 weeks I called my family doctor who confirmed they had the results. I was told I couldn’t get the results over the phone and had to book an in person meeting to get the results.

In reality I spoke with the receptionist on the phone rather than my doctor directly. However, that’s extra details which are not necessary since the receptionist was speaking on behalf of my doctor. I intentionally chose to simplify the story to remove that unnecessary detail. It wasn’t that I was lying but just that I simplified the story for ease of telling. People do this all the time.

I’m a writer, I had to do this many times, it’s necessary in order not to distract the reader from the main point of the story (in this case, the miracle of the healing)

Don’t understand why people waste their time on something they don’t believe in, unless they are dishonest about their motives. I think they are more trying to convince themselves that they are right than trying to inform others, although at some point the acoustics in the echo chamber sounds good.

I dare all of these skeptics to hold the exact same level of standards for literally everything else. 😂 Anything they can't see would be false information.

This is an autistic thing, too. An autistic person is more likley to not use these devices, sharing way too many mundane details. This guy may honestly never have even noticed that most people do this and naturally understand that the details may not be accurate.

I was guilty of this for so long. It took me way too long to figure out why people would sometimes assume I was lying because they naturally assume that offering too many details is sign of deception. People would also often get distracted and begin another conversation. Someone might would ask, "Did you talk to the doctor today?" My response would be something like, "No, I called the doctors office and spoke with the receptionist because the doctor is always busy but it's usually the receptionists that gets the information from the doctor anyway. She said that the doctor said that everything was fine." 😅

Now that I know it's hilarious to me. I annoyed people for so long with out even realizing it.

That's like saying Nutrition Facts labels lie by listing calories as a big number, when the actual calories of the entire bag is much larger since the listed number is only one serving. It's not lying, it's just simplifying the information.
