We hired a Japanese moving company!

- We moved!! We hired a Japanese moving company and filmed the entire process of packing and unpacking our things. The company we used was Art Hikkoshi Center (Art Moving Center) and they did a great job! We can't wait to get this place set up so we can show you guys our new apartment!

First thing when we got to our new apartment is Poki ran from room to room, stopping in each doorway just staring at the room in awe. He checked every single room and then was at home right away! Our cats basically didn't need any adjustment, and they are SO HAPPY to have way more room to run around!! We actually have a hallway now that they love chasing each other down. And just the other day we got our kitchen cabinets, and the cats have already made themselves at home on top of them! Can't wait to make videos in our new apartment! :D

Moving company in Japan...
1. Customer rep shows up in suit.
2. Every single worker gets a face to face, so you know who is supposed to be there.
3. Before we pack this, let's make sure the owner takes the cash out. (Barely a dollar...)
4. Before moving anything, let's pad up the building.
5. Cleans shit before packaging.
6. Listing which compartment each piece of cutlery goes, so it's in the exact same place after moving.
7. Sofa chair? WRAP IT UP! Cat tower? WRAP IT UP!
8. Reusable purpose designed packaging!
9. Any little doubt, asks the owner.
10. Gets permission for everything.
11. Manual labor is more polite than most hotel concierges.

Moving company in another country I've lived in.
1. Customer rep shows up in T-shirt.
2. Only the Customer rep addresses you.
3. Cash? Losers weepers, finders keepers.
4. Oops, we put a hole in the wall, shhhh.
5. Labels? Nah, they can figure that shit out.
6. Wrapping? Maybe the TV. The rest is fine.
7. Sits on your furniture while they have lunch break.
8. Acts like they are doing you a favor.

They all seemed so polite, quiet and respectful. I am so impressed! That is an amazing service.

I love that they have special boxes for specific things and a lot of them seem to be reusable, which is great because everyone that ever moved houses knows how much plastic and cardboard you waste on the move. They even have protection pads for the floor and the walls!
This was incredibly satisfying to watch. Kudos to the moving company, those are some true professionals at work!

The moving company I used here in Australia were so crap. Nearly all my stuff were scratched or dented to some degree. The Japanese take so much pride in what they do. I am in awe of their culture.

That amazing Japanese packing and customer service... I love how many of their materials are reusable, too. I've moved with moving companies a few times in the US, and it's always been super expensive but really amateur feeling.

You know what I just realized when I kept watching this over and over? Their "special boxes" were mostly plastic boxes, with the exception to some stuff being cardboard. I'm assuming that after they're finished unpacking all the special boxes into the new apartment, it can be reused for any future uses when needed. That's a small detail that I like about this. Thumbs up for the special and reusable boxes :)
