Great tips! To add, try to part your hair as neat as possible to avoid pulling on hair that's not part of the section. This isn't as bad when you're first separating, but when it comes to rinsing and raking deep conditioner through each section, that matters.

Also, I like to detangle to remove MOST of the shed hairs prior to applying any water to it simply because all those shed hairs mixed up the none hair causes more tangles (my hair is also not as loose as yours Brittany, I'm more like tight coils; type 4b/4c for reference *I hate the hair typing chart*)
