GUM (an abbreviation of Russian: Glávnyj Universáľnyj Magazín, literally "Main Universal Store") is the main department store in many cities of the former Soviet Union, known as the State Department Store during the Soviet era.

The most famous GUM is the large store in the Kitai-gorod part of Moscow facing Red Square. It is currently a shopping mall.

I fell in love with GUM. Not for shopping though. The architecture and atmosphere is mesmerizing. During my last visit, I was here almost everyday, either eating my lunch, dinner or supper on the highest floor.
