We talk a lot about the Japanese "never surrender" mentality but when you get down to it, we should apply that to the Germans as well. They didn't give up until the Allies had- literally- ripped Germany in half and occupied basically the whole country.

Jason Isaacs is amazing with his accents! For an English actor he did an amazing southern accent in Black Hawk Down and then does a New York accent here. Easily one of the greatest character actors of our generation

The way he switches from a commanding tone to a personal one. You can see pure despair and resignation, yet still they do not agree to give up. Insane movie. Eternal glory for all the heroes who fought for todays freedom and peace we can live in.

This is why the Germans and Japanese fought so hard in the last days. Its a whole different story when you are defending your homeland. No country would be any different if an enemy attacked the US its forces and citizens would fight just as hard. Protecting ones country would be the true term for fanatical.
